Man Has World’s Longest Moustache
An Indian man currently holds the Guinness World Record for the longest moustache – which is 18.5 FEET LONG.
Ram Singh, from Jaipur in Rajasthan state, India, proudly holds the Guinness World Record for the longest moustache with his impressive 18.5 foot long facial hair.
Ram, 62, has been growing his moustache since 1970 and spends two hours every day pampering it to ensure its continual growth – but only washes it once a fortnight.
In Rome, in 2010, Ram was given the title and has not been beaten since.
An Indian man has gained fame and fortune – as a result of his moustache. For Ram Singh’s moustache is not any old moustache. At six and a half feet long, it’s believed to be the longest in the world. As a result Singh is in great demand – for acting roles and for promoting India to tourists.
It’s not just Ram Singh’s magnificent appearance in Indian costume which attracts the crowds. It’s the length of his moustache. For at six and a half feet, it’s believed to be the longest in the world.
Over the years Singh has built up such a reputation, that he is now something of a celebrity. These days he even appears on postcards.
Lavish care and attention is paid to the moustache which has made Singh his fortune. He washes it every day, but never uses soap or modern shampoos. Instead every 15 days he soaks it in Miltani oil – which Singh says is the secret of his soft jet black hair.
Once he has soaked his hair, he puts it behind his ears to dry – a style he thinks is unlikely to catch on. But he still visits the local barber – for a shave. And word gets round quickly that he’s there.
He must have great faith in his barber, as it’s not every day that one puts ones livelihood into another man’s hands.
